Is there a barber school near San Diego?
Yes. Southern California College of Barber & Beauty is in Escondido at 641 N Broadway, about 30 miles north of downtown San Diego off I-15. Many of our students commute from San Diego neighborhoods like Rancho Bernardo, Poway, Scripps Ranch and Mira Mesa.
What beauty programs can I take near San Diego?
We offer Barber, Cosmetology, Esthetician, Manicuring and a 200-hour Barber Crossover program for licensed cosmetologists.
How long does barber or cosmetology school take in California?
California requires 1,000 hours for a barber or cosmetology license. At 40 hours a week that is about 6 months. Esthetics is 600 hours and manicuring is 400 hours.
Do you have night classes for working students?
Yes. Evening classes run Monday through Friday, 5 to 10 PM, for Barber, Barber Crossover, Cosmetology and Esthetician programs, plus day and part-time schedules.

Is there a practical state board exam in California?
No. California requires only the written state board exam. You build and prove your hands-on skills during training.
